The Department of Computer Science regularly hosts, supports, and contributes to projects, symposiums, workshops, and conferences.
- Alice Workshop: A workshop during the summer for high school teachers to train in Alice, an object-oriented programming language that is used to create 3-D animations. Department Contact: RoxAnn Stalvey
- Alumni Symposium: An annual event, held in March, featuring Computer Science alumni engaging and networking with current students. Several alumni are invited annually to present and host a Q&A session. Department Contact: Marilee Henry
- ACM Southeast USA Regional International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC): Held in November, an annual contest for teams of three students involving algorithmic programming problems. Department Contact: Jim Bowring
- BARCAMP: Held in April, the ad-hoc, user generated UN-conference where attendees determine what will be presented.
- Charleston Digital Corridor: A community of a creative effort to attract, nurture and promote Charleston's tech economy through a combination of technology-enabled initiatives and business incentives, private business support and member-driven programming.
- Charleston STEM Festival: An annual festival, held in February, promoting engagement and celebration of STEM fields with hands-on activites for children and adults of all ages.
- Geek Squad Summer Academy: The College of Charleston has hosted Geek Squad Summer Academy since 2011. The two-day computer workshop, sponsored by Best Buy, teaches girls from age 10-17 to use the latest technologies. Subjects include Robotics, Digital Filming, 3-D Printing, Digital Citizenship, and others. The event occurs in an atomosphere comparable to a "mini campus" with about 10 classrooms and meeting rooms in use. Department Contact: Christine Moore
- Girls Day Out: Co-hosted with SPAWAR during July, the program introduces 8th and 9th grade girls and their parents to STEM disciplines. The camp includes about 70 girls, and is designed to educate and attract girls to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers while having fun! - High School Programming Competition: An annual programming competition for high school students, held in February, that participating teams solve problems and introduce their solution utilizing Python and Java. Department Contacts: Sebastian van Delden, Chair and Marilee Smith
- Joint Industry Advisory Board (JIAB): In collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at The Citadel, a board concentrating on matters of strategic direction and philosophy of the computing programs. Department Contact: Sebastian van Delden, Chair
- Lady Cougars STEM Education Day: An annual event, held in February and presented by the CofC School of Science and Mathematics, Lowcountry Hall of Science and Math, and the Lady Cougars Basketball team, where middle school students experience hands-on activities and demonstrations related to science, technology, engineering and math.
- NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU): A 10 week student program developing lab research, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on integrative research that spans the areas of genomics, bioinformatics, data mining, data science, molecular biology and evolution. - SCAMP (South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation: An accelerated summer transition program, geared towards minority students interested in pursuing a degree in math or science. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
- CofCCareer Fair: Held in the fall semester, in collaboration with Career Center, recruiters are invited to showcase their company to students and alumni seeking potential employment.

- CHRONI - Mobile app for Android devices that supports ET_Redux in the field.
- ET_Redux - CIRDLES' flagship data-processing and workflow automation software for geochronologists.
- MARS - Middleware for Assisting with the Registration of Samples - prototypes an automated approach for use with SESAR.
- Obsidian – A unit test generator for java built for the JUnit framework.
- Topsoil - Community-driven replacement for Isoplot.
- Tripoli - Imports mass spectrometer raw data files and supports their interactive review.
- JythonMusic - Open source environment for music making and creative programming activities.
